• Evaluation of  redgram genotypes under All   India Co-ordinated Pulses  Improvement   Project and identification and   of elite lines with high  yield potential.

• Development of medium duration redgram varieties with tolerance  to pod borer through recombination and mutagenesis.

Greengram and Blackgram

• Development and evaluation of Greengram varieties suitable for irrigated situation with resistance to YMV and leaf crinkle disease.

• Development and evaluation of blackgram varieties suitable for irrigated situation with resistance to YMV and leaf crinkle disease.

• Standardization of regeneration techniques in blackgram, greengram, redgram and soybean.

Soybean

• Maintenance and evaluation of germplasm in soybean.

• Evolution of high yielding varieties of soybean suitable for irrigated conditions.

Bengalgram

• Evaluation and evolution of bold bengalgram kabuli / desi varieties superior  than CO 4.

Minor pulses

• Collection and evaluation of non-traditional pulse crops (Rice bean, Moth bean, Sword bean, Winged bean,  Lima bean and  Pillipesara) for their adaptability.

• Collection and Maintenance of Germplasm lines and evolution of  photoinsensitive varieties in Mochai and Avarai.

• Evolution of high yielding cowpea varieties and nucleus seed production.
